STRATEGIES IN EXPERIMENTAL ARCHITECTURE

The studio works with the idea of the dynamic city in which disconnected and forgotten pockets of the urban fabric can be given new meaning through research and design innovation. Through research and design we can both understand and respond to the life, spirit and aspirations of specific places. Through prototyping we can experimentally test and develop invention and creativity with a view to real world implementations.

We will be working with an experimental design agenda, which may be: physical or virtual; digital, conceptual or material; singular or multiple; site specific, generic or bespoke; city scale, architectural or intimate; interactive, dynamic or static; etc.

The objective of the project is to demonstrate the real world implementation of our proposals by developing, resolving and communicating the key design strategies that can be: Narrative, Research, Interaction, Environmental, Structural, Spatial, Production, Aesthetic, Constructional, Digital, Geographical, Material, Economic, Computational, Social, Sustainability, Temporal, Political, Tectonic, etc. And then working with a series of prototypes to test and develop the design strategies
