The MA in Architectural Design addresses a growing national and international need for a design based Masters course that develops knowledge of design processes and methodologies.

The course aims to enhance the existing skills of graduates to develop a distinctive design approach. The programme builds on the department's acclaimed research and teaching expertise in the area of architectural design which considers architecture in a broad range of social, environmental and economic contexts.

The LAB is the heart of the website, and the location for the Reflections on Architectural Design module - the core module of our course. Here we explore research by design methodologies through these framings:

NARRATING DESIGN
picking a narrative or a story, finding an interest and following it through
EXPERIMENTING DESIGN
trying out different ideas, approaches, methods
ASSEMBLING DESIGN
finding a way to connect different interests, topics, ways of doing

We use these as a way of critically addressing the design process.
