Make

Introduction:
Make is the final stage of the design process. The site and responce are it's support. It realize the design. There are different ways of making, include sketching, drawing, performing and modeling etc. We all had our own prefered way of making, and completing our design in different ways.

Osamu's Making:
Adding, assembling, editing, eliminating and adding.... As a result of
polishing. The most important point of view at this stage is to evaluate own idea by means of ''Power of Ten' by Charles Ray Eames. Various size of ideas are created from response stage, and even response and make stage still switch one another. Thus as editing ideas, it is essential to have multi-scale view about project.

Kristanti's Making:
The making drawing is my initial drawing, or what I imagined the condition of the site would be after I designed my building in the site. I was very scared of big blank sheet, so when I did this drawing, I put two sheets of A2 paper and stick it to the wall, tied a torch in my head and turn the lights off. With that way, I can only see the spot where I wanted to draw and that helps me a lot.

Ivan's Making:
The final stage of the design is the making process. After you finished the research of the site, and decide what is your response to the main problem of the design, you need to start making the appearance of the project. Lots of factors had influence on your making: the understanding of the site, the attitude towards the problems, your education experence, the personal preference, the fashionable style of the time. There could be different ways of making, you need to make the decision in a complicated world. Once I make the decision, I will develop the project from general to detail following the original response to the site. The whole process of making a design should be lead by one idea once you decide which one it is.

Maggie's Making:
Make is a practical process, it put the ideas of reponce into reality, materilize the concept. My making used materials which can reflect the characters of site as well as an attitude to the site, and I also found the way you make will influence the work of making.Make is a interesting process, no matter it is drawing or model or any other things, it should contain the infarmation from responce, not just simply making.

Jade's Making:
I personally think Make as a formal way of presenting my response to a site. Since make can be a product as well as a process, when struggling with how to express ideas of response, there are still lots of interaction between Make and Response. Because I consider Make as a milestone of the whole process rather than a endpoint, even when the building is built. So drawing, modeling, constructing and other forms of making are important to me. According to different project and different scale I prefer different approaches.

Matthew's Making:
Make is container and consequence of response. In my past experience, the drawing or construction of building is only way of making. However, before generating the potential building, we could also create some intervention or installation to test the site. This kind of making contributes a lot to the final outcome.

Derong's Making
Make is an attitude to the site and response, I think it is much more rely on your own perspective of design strategy. All I have said above is about site and response, they are composed by context and reaction with context. So make as implement of your design strategy is mainly base on how to deal with the context at site. Architecture as stage to reflect different experience and vision, base on this stage people build up context between different experiences. Through this context the reflection of experience can be shared though the vision express. People’s experience can be engaged by these different layers of function and vision.

Conclusion
We found as a group that 'MAKE' can be defined as two different strands of the design process, the making of a design itself and the final product within. As we have seen throughout the year, each and everyone of us has different ways of making. Experimentations within the studio have led us to figure our own ways of making, which varies from hand drawing to model making and 3d visualisation. Therefore, it is essential to have as many making references as possible to help us find appropriate ways of designing.
